About Me

March 17th, 2010

Hi, I’m Jason.  I am 31 years old as of January 2010, and am married to The Lovely Miss H.  No kids yet, just three lovely dogs.  After being raised in California my entire life, I moved to Texas shortly after getting married in 2004, much to the chagrin of our families and friends.  We may have found greener pastures in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, just not any nice beaches :)

As I briefly explained in my Inaugural Post, I really became aware of our family financial situation about two years ago, and decided things needed to change.  Among your typical credit cards, furniture financing, and car loans, we both carried into marriage mountains of student loans.  Finally we realized we needed a path less often traveled if we were to ever have the ability to exercise true financial peace and freedom.  I have since immersed myself into all things personal finance — books, blogs, and the like — to gain knowledge so I can use it to benefit my family.

At it’s core, this blog serves as an extra accountability partner in my financial adventures.  Hopefully it will prove at times to be entertaining, informative, and a good resource for you too!

Two years later, the consumer debt is near gone, and student loans that once seemed too distant to climb now seem at least navigable, because we have a plan.

Thanks for checking out the site!

Jason; Glad to hear you are getting it right at 30 instead of waiting as we did until almost 50! Your quest for financial knowledge is the key. We made a plan and paid off over $40K in two years. We wrote a book declaring the dumb things we did and how we overcame them. And now offer the plan FREE to churches and anyone who wants it from our website. goodbiblesense.com
Keep up the good work. The best thing about having a job is a paycheck with no payments and no debt!!

Thanks, Sam! California needs all the help it can get, but the jobs & low cost of living say Texas is the place to be :o )

It’s nice, but they DO get you with property taxes here.
